Homework:
The most influential thing you can do at home is to share books with your child. Ask your child questions throughout the reading. Discuss characters, problems, setting, solutions, facts, etc. It is also useful to use real life opportunities to practice real life math concepts. Chores and challenges such as setting the table, dividing portions, measuring ingredients, counting and managing money, and other tasks are beneficial.
Weekly homework will typically be sent home each Monday, and due the following Monday. This homework will be a review of skills already taught in the class. Think of it as a menu. Rather than having to choose everything, there will be options to choose based on your child's interests, goals, and time constraints that week. We give a week, so that time may be budgeted accordingly. Our goal is to foster responsibility as well as academics. I thank you as your child’s first teacher and biggest supporter!
